I’ve come to realize as an adult that I not only learned how to cook from my mom, but I also inherited her skills of how to keep a perfectly cluttered home. I’m not talking hoarder-style, but definitely small piles of paper on every imaginable surface, clean clothes patiently waiting to be folded, washed dishes sitting in the rack waiting to be put away. And, the list can go on. I needed inspiration and thankfully I got some a little while back.

Enter Nathan Turner of Million Dollar Decorators on Bravo TV fame, who released a new book, “American Style: Classic Design and Effortless Entertaining.” Melissa’s Produce invited LatinoFoodie along with other bloggers and media to a private lunch with Nathan. Nathan’s known for his parties, products, and designs. His work has been featured in major national and regional publications including Vogue Living, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, and Food & Wine. His book features beautiful photographs, including colorful fruits and vegetables — Melissa’s produce to be exact.

Nathan inspired me to rethink decorating my home. Of course before you can decorate, you need to also clean it up. Let Nathan inspire you, too, by picking up his book on Amazon. In it you’ll find excellent, helpful tips to change up and decorate rooms.

Amazon describes the book like this, “With large open areas for relaxed entertaining and rooms where the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces are blurred, Nathan Turner’s interiors epitomize the easy and casual yet hip and chic style of West Coast living. Now Nathan Turner’s American Style brings his designs into the homes of readers who aspire to re-create his “barefoot, fuss-free, but still high style” looks for themselves…”

Take a look at the creative table setting, using burlap, a denim runner, and fruits, herbs and vegetables as centerpieces. Absolutely loved it!

Look! My own personal place setting. We each had our own mason jar of jelly that had a personalized name tag. The sprig of rosemary was definitely a nice touch on the napkin.

Melissa’s Produce and Nathan Turner — such a great combination of style and substance.

As we were departing the lunch of mostly vegetarian dishes, each of us received a gorgeous heirloom pumpkin from Melissa’s Produce. It now sits out on my front porch. Such a great parting gift, along with a copy of Nathan’s book.
